Acadia University Art Gallery Art camps – TBA

Art in the Garden Summer Camp, Wolfville – July 9-13 and August 13-17,
9 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday, at the Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens on the Acadia Campus, Wolfville. Ages 7-12.

Children’s Art Camp, Coldbrook – Children’s Art Camp
As requested, Tracy Hinschen is offering one final Art Camp for the Summer!
Dates: August 13th – 17th
Time: 9:00 – 12noon; Ages: 7yrs – 12yrs
Price: $195 (includes all supplies and healthy snack)
Minimum 4 students.
Fun activities include numerous watercolour and acrylic paintings, making greeting cards and bookmarks, creating talking sticks with feathers/glitter etc. If weather permits, we’ll enjoy a crazy Fun Friday with water gun paintings and a huge slip and slide!
As a professional artist of 27+yrs and who teaches art classes on a weekly basis throughout the school year, it’s my pleasure to offer these fun art camps to your child! This camp will be held at my home in Coldbrook.

Ross Creek Centre for the Arts Experience an amazing program of camps for children and teens, and academies for young artists. Our flagship arts camps, both in summer and at March Break, offer a unique way to experience the arts. Athletic Camps

Acadia Athletics Camps – Basketball, hockey, volleyball and hockey camps available for all ages! Welcome to Acadia Sport Camps – where youth have the opportunity to grow through their sporting experiences at Acadia 

Cadance Academy  New Minas, Dance camps will include instruction in Ballet, Modern Jazz, Hip Hop, Zumba (Latin and international dance), creative movement, and yoga in addition to crafts, Friday dance show, plenty of outdoor activities including a pool to cool off in and when ripe, berries right off the branch. 
NEW: “Repertoire and Choreography”  For ages 11+ and those dancers with previous ballet training wanting to sharpen their performance skills. Dance styles will include ballet (including pointe/pre-pointe for females), jazz, contemporary and Acro.

This year we are also offering an additional opportunity for those who would like to develop their tennis skills by offering private and group lessons in the evenings. Tennis camps are so much more than tennis! With soccer, baseball, basketball, swimming…it’s more like a multi-sports camp!

Kingswood Camp is located on Lake George, is an Evangelical Christian Camp. Camp provides an atmosphere where campers encounter Jesus Christ and grow as His disciples through wholesome relationships with dedicated Christian leaders, in an inviting outdoor setting, while participating in safe programs and activities relevant to their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual development. They have a variety of camps throughout the summer for campers ages 5+. There are also leadership camps and camps for youth with disabilities.

Sherbrooke Lake Camp – Sherbrooke Lake Camp is a fun, residential United Church summer camp for campers age 6-16.  During a week at camp, campers experience canoeing, swimming, crafts, nature activities, games, music, hiking, campouts, campfires, vespers and so much more! Do not be alarmed if you come home with a huge smile, a full belly of great food, singing crazy songs, and full of memories and stories.

Day Camps

Berwick Recreation offers eight weeks of Summer Day Camp beginning July of each summer.  Camp is for children ages 5 to 12. Cost is very reasonable and programs engage the children in many physical and cultural activities including trips to the beach, museum or local place of interest. Canning Recreation Summer Activity CampCanning Recreation offers day camps for two age groups (4-7 & 8-12) for $10/day if prepaid, $15/day for drop-in and $30/day trip days.  Camp begins on July 3rd and runs to August 24th from 9:00am-4:00pm with early drop-offs and late pick-ups only available from 7:30am to 4:45pm.  These extended times are only available with pre-registration and each cost $5/day per family.  We look forward to a summer full of fun activities like water days, outdoor sports & activities and theme weeks.

Greenwood Military Family Resource Centre – Summer camp for preschoolers. 7 weekly sessions from Tuesday, July 3 to Friday, August 17 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Location: GMFRC
Cost: $60/child per weekly session Registration deadline is the Monday prior to each weekly session. Our weekly themes will focus on the many summer activities that children love to do! We will be hiking, running, exploring, playing games, doing playground activities, and making new friends. Children must be aged 3 to 5 years and be able to use the washroom  independently and enjoy an outside atmosphere. A yummy snack will be included.

Kentville Recreation  for Children- Offering a summer of camps to youth aged 5-12 years old.  Camps will have use of our parks and trails, the pool and our new splash pad, and will take outings to surrounding communities. All summer programs offered by the town will focus on getting active, connecting with nature, giving back to our community, and gaining skills needed to create your own adventure. This year the day camps will be broken up into smaller groups with each group having a designated leader. Groups will be established based on age, interest and ability. At times all groups will come together for events or activities to support a multi-aged approach.

Kentville Recreation Youth Camp – (Ages 12-15) – NEW THIS YEAR: These programs will be two weeks in length with the focused being on active leadership, developing the young entrepreneurs, leading in the outdoors and building community. This is a great opportunity for any youth looking to get some extra skills for their resume, and have an awesome summer at the same time!

Kings County – Offering a mobile day camp in Burlington, Coldbrook, Aldershot and Aylesford. For school-age children up to 12 years old. 2 weeks of camp in each location. 

Kingston Recreation – Camp begins on Tuesday, July 3rd and ends on Friday, August 24th. The Kingston Recreation Department is pleased to offer an eight-week summer day camp for youths aged 5 to 12. 

New Minas Recreation – New Minas Recreation offers a safe and fun environment for campers, ages 4-13 this  Summer! We enjoy a wide variety of activities – games, trips, arts & crafts, movies and more, all under the direction of our qualified and dedicated staff!  Come spend your Summer with New Minas Rec

West Hants Recreation Camps – A full summer of camps! 

Windsor Recreation – Full summer of camps for ages 5-12 in Windsor. 

Wolfville Recreation – Offering camps in partnership with Acadia Univeristy. Art and drama camp, run-jump & throw, adventures on bikes, adventure: geocache and time travel, multisport field sports or multisport – court & racquet sports, dance and creative movement, leadership,
water warriors, survivor camp and cooperative games. 

Woodville Recreation – Our morning Day Camp will be held August 6th to 10th from 9:00am to 12:00 noon. The kids need water, a hat, sunscreen and if there are special diet concerns, please let the leaders know. The kids play games, do crafts and have fun meeting new friends. The cost is $5 per day for kids from 4 (going to school in the fall) and up to 12 years old. This includes crafts, games, snacks and more.

 

Music Camps

Acadia Summer Music Academy Join us at Acadia University for a musical experience that hits all the right notes. This July 1-7, we welcome young musicians to experience our Summer Music Academy. Our Concert Band Camp is designed for students ages 10-18, with experience ranging from beginner to advanced. Each student will play at the right level for their musical development. Students are welcome to attend a day camp (with an optional meal plan), or enjoy a week living in an Acadia residence. For more information, please visit summermusic.acadiau.ca

Rock Camp – Windsor. So you want to be a rock star? This is a good place to start. Hosted by local musician and two time East Coast Music Award winner Jake Smith. These fun filled music camps cover everything from songwriting, performing, recording, musical instrument care and marketing/advertising your latest music project. Each camp will end with a live concert. We also have some very cool guests coming in to do workshops.

 

Junior Choir Camp and Youth Choir Camp, Berwick – For 2 weeks every summer, voices raised together in song float among the hemlocks of the Berwick United Church Campground.

Our camps are open to all, from those just starting to find their voice to experienced singers – there is a place for everyone in this friendly, family-like atmosphere. It feels a little bit like coming home and both singers and staff return to Berwick year after year after year. We have three camps to choose from, for all ages!

 

 

Specialty Camps

Autism Summer CampCamp Spectrum, our Summer Day Camp for Children & Youth with Autism, is a recreation program for children and youth on the Autism Spectrum between the ages of 3 and 25.  Each camper receives 1 to 1 support from counselors with autism-related experience and training and activities are designed specifically with each individual participant’s needs and interests in mind. On the surface our camp looks like any other — we will go swimming, boating, do arts & crafts — but we will also make adapations to accommodate the special sensory and behevioural needs of all our campers.  

BUDS & BLOSSOMS SUMMER CAMP, Kentville – Youth 5-9 years old
Where: In Kentville and Wolfville
When: Weekly, Beginning Monday, July 23rd; What: Root to Blossom Wellness is taking it back to the basics with this summer camp and going to have a whole lot of fun doing it!  Through activities, adventures, and nourishing snacks/lunches (prepared by them with us) youth will discover first hand the importance and benefits of a Mind. Body. Spirit connection! They will take away knowledge, skills and techniques that can be used on a day-to-day basis EMPOWERING a holistic approach to their Health & Wellness. BONUS: Youth will receive their Level 1 Reiki Certificate VALUED at $123! Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation.  On completion of a full week and receiving their Level 1 Reiki Certificate, daily drop ins for $35 will be available. Camp Brigadoon, Aylesford Lake – rigadoon Village passionately transforms the lives of Atlantic Canadian children and youth living with health conditions and other life challenges to help them reach their full potential through experiential learning, meaningful connections, and exceptional fun. A series of camps all summer for a variety of health concerns. 

Camp Canada is an exciting cross-cultural boarding opportunity for children aged 8-14 years, hosted at King’s-Edgehill School in Windsor, Nova Scotia from July 16th-30th, 2018. Students from Canada, Mexico, Hong Kong, Dominican Republic, Korea, Switzerland, Germany and France gather on the campus for two weeks of experiential  learning. Students also participate  in camping trips, Halifax cultural visits, Art, Music, Sports and other varied activities focused on building self-confidence and interpersonal friendships. Professional and experienced  Independent School teachers and selected councilors have run the camp for 5 years to great response. Computer Science Camp for Girls, Wolfville. August 13-17. BUILD is a week long dive into the world of Computer Science for girls 11 to 13. We will explore the basics of software development while building interactive artwork and stories, video games, and software that interacts with the physical world. Through our exploration we will also journey through use of hardware, refine our ideation skills and turn our ideas into software Campers will also connect with Computer Scientists in our community who are changing the world one algorithm at a time.

Creative Computing Camp, Wolfville.  July 30-August 3. Creative Computing Camp is a week long adventure into the world of Computer Science. Using the popular Scratch programming environment to master the basics of software development, we will build interactive artwork and stories, video games, and software that interacts with the physical world. Through our exploration of the creativity of software development, we will learn about where ideas come from, and how to turn ideas into action. Campers will also connect with Computer Scientists in our community who are changing the world one algorithm at a time.

Debate Camp – Windsor, Debate Camp is a place to learn, and we believe one of the best ways to develop new skills is through practice and effective feedback.  At camp, debaters are on their feet, raising points, countering and developing new abilities in an active way.  We are more about this active form of learning and less about lecture-style teaching. This camp will be held at the Kings Edgehill Campus, Windsor from August 13-17 for grades 5 to 11.

Entrepreneurship Summer Camp – Kentville. CEED offers a five-day Juniorpreneur Camp designed for youth ages 8 through 14. Campers will develop new skills and hone existing ones as they learn what it takes to be an Entrepreneur! Over the week campers will engage in activities to build teamwork, innovation, critical-thinking, risk-taking and leadership abilities, as they work towards running their own business for a day and then pitching their businesses to local Entrepreneurs! Junior Marine Biologist Program:  July 17th & 18th in the Annapolis Valley
– For girls aged 9 – 12 from Nova Scotia
– The deadline to nominate is July 1st, and we’ll respond by July 2nd
– We’ll bring girls out to a fishing weir in Bramber to get hands-on with marine life and assist a crew of female biologists in their conservation work with Atlantic sturgeon, skates, and striped bass. We’ll also feature a learn-to-camp workshop and stay overnight at Smiley’s Provincial Park in Windsor, where we’ll engage girls in exciting activities including a squid dissection, learning about whale and shark conservation in Nova Scotia, engineering and tidal power game, a marine and terrestrial pollution activity, and more!
 
Junior Wildlife Conservation Program –  July 20th – 23rd on Bon Portage Island (off of Barrington) – For girls aged 11 – 14 from Nova Scotia

– The deadline to nominate is July 2nd, and we’ll respond by July 5th

– We’ll teach girls about wildlife conservation on Bon Portage Island, an incredible research station that is home to nearly 50,000 breeding pairs of Leach’s Storm Petrels. Girls will have the opportunity to assist female biologists with conservation efforts through daily monitoring of the nests, which involves the hands-on method of “grubbing”, or inserting your arm into the burrowed nests to carefully pull out chicks and measure several health indicators. We’ll also engage girls in other activities, including a squid dissection, guided naturalist hikes of the island, learning about marine pollution, assessing how the island and its wildlife will be impacted by climate change, learning outdoor exploration skills, learning about science communications and social media, and more!
 
Science Camp, Windsor Forks – Join us for a super, slimy, and fun time next week in Windsor Forks!

Tech Camp, Port Williams – Program Simple Computer Games! Write Interactive Fiction! Or Create Text-Adventure Games! Our program leader will work with the campers to develop the ideas and goals for the week, so the campers are the designers from the very beginning!

Wild Spirits Forest and Nature School Camps – Join Wild Spirits Forest & Nature School for a good old-fashioned summer camp, in the great outdoors! Your children will spend a week immersed in nature. Discovering the elements: Earth, Air, Fire & Water along the Pine Barrens and Annapolis River at our Greenwood location. Children will connect with self and others and get to experience the wonders and joy this beautiful earth has to offer. Our experienced staff will encourage exploration, and play that fosters learning and growth of the whole child with structured and unstructured play in the forest.  Camps may include: Shelter building, Cooking over a campfire, Games & free play, Plant identification & nature crafts, Tool work, Water fun & more. Our day camps are Monday-Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm; for ages 5-12

Windsor Leadership Camp – Calling anyone 12+ we have an awesome three weeks of Junior Leadership camps planned for this summer! 

Theatre Camps

CentreStage Theatre, Kentville – This summer CentreStage will be hosting drama camps for youth! Participants will learn stage skills such as voice, movement, character development and technical aspects. Camp Fees: $150 per person per week. Each participant is responsible for bringing a lunch. CentreStage will provide all snacks. Camp Times: Monday to Friday 9:00 to 3:00 (doors open at 8:30am), with a public performance at 2pm on Friday afternoon.

Edalene Theatre, Wolfville. We are pleased to announce that we will be presenting BUGSY MALONE this summer! Based on the 1970’s movie of the same name,  Bugsy Malone is about two gangs comprised completely of children in New York City. The show sees them square off in a 1920s rivalry of Capone-ian standards. Dandy Dan’s gang has gotten the upper hand since obtaining the “splurge” gun. Now, Fat Sam and his bumbling buffoons are in real trouble! Bugsy Malone, a one-time boxer, is thrust not-so-willingly into the gangster limelight when he becomes the last chance that Fat Sam’s gang has of surviving. All Bugsy really wants to do is spend time with his new love, Blousey, but that just isn’t in the cards for our hero.

Camp will be offered for students 10-18 and run for three weeks in August (August 6th-24), from Monday-Friday. During this camp the students will be trained in dance, music and theatre technique while rehearsing for a full scale musical production.

 Auditions will be in May. All who audition will be accepted, auditions help us to find the best part to showcase you. However, if you would like to come to camp and be part of the chorus, no audition is required, just fill out a registration form.

Micci’s Musicals presentsMUSICAL THEATRE DAY CAMP 2018 July 2 – 13 Monday to Friday , 9:00 – 2:00 at New Minas Baptist ChurchParticipants will learn stage skills such as voice, movement, character development and technical aspects. There is some vocal harmony as well as some dance movement. The age range is 5 – 16. Children will gain confidence, develop stage presence, have fun with theatre games, learn singing, dancing and
acting skills as well as how to work as a team to put on a production. They will be making costumes and working on the set – all aspects of theatre will be covered! There will be a final show for parents/relatives/friends/fans on the last day

Middleton Performing Arts Camp – Performing Arts Camp is taking place August 6-10 at Middleton Baptist Church! 9:00am-2:00pm each day and is free of cost. Children ages 6-12 are invited to take part in learning a fun musical which will include singing, drama and choreography. New Minas Baptist Church – KIDS DRAMA CAMP – July 23-27! Come enjoy fun mornings learning about drama and the Bible at the same time! The instructor for our drama camp has tons of experience at her home church in Moncton leading a kids drama ministry and will be joining us as one of the adult leaders for our youth Summer Serve program. Monday – Friday, July 23-27, 900am – 1230pm. All Kids, grades P-5 [2017-18 school year] No Cost

Quick as a Wink – Windsor. This year, once again, we are proud to offer two theatre camp experiences.  For camp participants ages 7-12 we will host a one-week Theatre Camp beginning on July 16.  For camp participants ages 12-17 we will host a two-week Musical Theatre Camp beginning on July 23.   Participants will learn how to communicate meaning through movement and voice as well as they will be able to understand the fundamental concepts of character development.  Participants will also gain understanding of the audition and rehearsal process.  Camps will focus on personal growth and skill development through explorations of theatre concepts by means of activities and games.
