Acadia Regional Youth Orchestra – Wolfville. he Acadia Regional Youth Orchestra (ARYO) is a string program for young people aged 10-24 and a Fiddle Group for anyone aged 10 and up, including adults. Rehearsals and group lessons take place on Tuesday afternoons at Festival Theatre in Wolfville. This year we offer instruction for beginning students in violin, viola, cello, and string bass, and two levels of String Orchestra: Introductory and Intermediate (called the ARYO Orchestra), as well as our Fiddle Group at an easy intermediate level. The program consists of 10 sessions in the fall and 10 sessions starting in January. While registration for beginners closes at the end of September, it is still possible for intermediate level players to join us for the winter term. Acadia Youth Band – Wolfville.  The Acadia Youth Band is a grade 7 – 12 honour band comprised of students from several AVRSB schools. The Youth Band rehearses in Wolfville every Friday from 4:30 – 6:30 during the university academic year, and students are regularly offered support and assistance from university music majors at rehearsalsMost students audition for Acadia Youth Band through their own music programs by demonstrating commitment to all facets of excellence in music. Although teacher recommendation is the primary means by which students are considered for membership, auditions can be arranged as well.

Alan Jefferies, Annapolis Royal -Have you always wanted to learn to play an instrument, or are you looking to brush up on    your Guitar/Bass/Mando/Banjo skills? Annapolis Royal based ‐ musician Alan Jeffries, is now offering private lessons.   Alan is a professional musician and graduate of the Sound Engineering Program at the Centre for Arts and Technology. Open to all skill levels.

Aldershot Community Youth Choir – It is open to anyone from the Annapolis Valley ages 12-21. So if you are in middle school, high school, university, college or have just graduated you are welcome to join. Rehearsals are on Monday nights from 6:45-8:45 at the Bethany Memorial Baptist Church (539 Aldershot Road, Aldershot)

Annapolis Valley Honour Choir – This auditioned choir is open to students from grades 3-12 in the Annapolis Valley. There are three choirs: Junior, Intermediate and Senior choir. 

Annapolis Valley Music Festival – Music Festival runs between April 23 and May 4 2012. It is held in Wolfville and has competitive and non-competitive classes for all musical types.

Arts Acadia – offers a series of concerts throughout the year at Acadia University. Many are appropriate for older children.

Bernie Zinck Music Studio – is a home-based teaching facility for guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, bass guitar, and drums. Bernie (as he is known to his students) teaches all ages and skill levels in the Annapolis Valley area. He customizes each student’s learning experience to their musical tastes, skill and aptitude. From burgeoning musicians, to bona fide future superstars, his approach encompasses everyone from the hobbyist to the serious student.

C. Guitar Plus, Wilmot – sells new and used musical instruments and offers music lessons.

Cello lessons – Elizabeth Sircom teaches private lessons at her studio in Hantsport, and may also be able to come to your home. Registered member of the NSRMTA. Contact libsirc@laposte.net for more information.

Djembes and Duns is a drumming workshop that held (most) Saturdays from 1-3 at the Wolfville Baptist Church, or sometimes at the Clock Park across the street in nice weather. For the time being, there is no charge. No experience or instruments required. Children are welcome, but we encourage them to come in the earlier part of the workshop, when we are warming up and doing simpler exercises that they can follow along with. Dorian Hall Academy of Performing Arts offers private instruction for any style and level at their studio in Wolfville and Windsor. Piano/Keyboard,  Voice, Violin/Fiddle, Viola, Woodwinds, Brass, Drums and Music Theory. AVMF and RCM Examination preparation. New students welcome any time! Four Seasons Community Orchestra –  The FSCO is a community symphony orchestra which plays a wide range of music from baroque to modern plus original scores and pop/Broadway arrangements. Members are all ages, and the music level is approximate grade 10 high school material. 

Kids For Christ Childrens Choir – This choir is hosted through the Kentville Baptist Church and is open to all community members ages P-5. It meetsFriday nights 6:30-7:30. It is a weekly opportunity to sing, have fun and be involved in 2 great musical presentations – runs Sept – May/June.MAP

Kim Barlow. Ukulele, banjo and guitar private and group lessons for all ages in Wolfville and Canning NS. We start with familiar tunes, and students can choose songs they love to learn. KinderMusik with Mindy – Mindy teaches in two locations: Kingston and at the Firefly Makery in Bridgetown.

Kings Chorale Children’s Chorus – an auditioned children’s choir that provides enrichment for young singers. The members represent valley communities from Bridgetown to Cambridge and range in age from 7 to 14. The choir rehearses once a week at Kingston United Church. EMAIL

King’s Kids – a new inter-church children’s choir in Kings County. For kids who like to sing and have fun! Ages: 5-12 (or older if interested). Practices are held at the New Minas Baptist Church.

Moe’s Place, Windsor – welcomes new and returning students to register for guitar and bass lessons in the new teaching studio at the store.

Music for Fun Studio – offers piano lessons for all ages and abilities.

Red House Studio, Port Williams – Experienced music teacher offering fun and dynamic lessons in guitar, piano and drums. Focus on one instrument or a combination. Ryan Roberts, Kentville – Ryan teaches guitar and Piano as well as banjo, mandolin and bluegrass fiddle. Students can also learn songwriting and music production. 

Roeboat Music Lessons – Windsor. Music lessons are offered in voice, piano, organ, guitar and a variety of other instruments. Lessons are held at Windsor United Church on King Street in Windsor, Nova Scotia.  Special arrangements may also be made to have lessons in home.

Valley Voices – Valley Voices Chorus is an a cappella show chorus with rehearsals at the Kentville Baptist Church Hall on Tuesdays from 7:00p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Guests are always welcome and should identify themselves to members upon arrival.  This organization includes a vibrant group of amazing women of all ages including youth, who are recognized for excellence in singing, celebrating friendship and personal growth through music, leadership education, and the practice of democratic principles.
