Boating
Aylesford Lake Yacht Club – offered a learn to sail camps for youth each summer. Different camps are available starting at age 5. Youth programs are not currently offered but may be in the future.
Bridgetown rentals – There is a youth canoe program at Bridgetown Jubilee Park in July and you can rent canoes and kayaks on site. Guided paddles down the river once a week. Annapolis County Recreation Services has a Personal Floating Device( lifejackets) sign out program during office hours and subject to reservations at the Bridgetown office.
Dunromin Campground, Annapolis Royal – The Dunromin Campground has three boating opportunities for people. You do not have to be a registered camper to participate in these activities. They have kayaks, canoes, water bikes, a pedal boat and S.U.P Boards that they rent by the hour. They also offer learn to kayak courses and guided kayak paddling tours. The boat rentals, tours and lessons are open to anyone. The tours and lessons need a day or more advance booking, while the rentals are first come first serve. Someone 19 years or older has to sign our Rental Agreement in order to do either of the 3 options.

Kejimkujik National Park – Bicycles, single and double kayaks, canoes and rowboats are available for rent within Kejimkujik.
Middleton Recreation has a free loan program for canoes and kayaks. Contact Middleton’s Adventure Programmer weekdays at 902-825-8143 or the Visitor Information Center on Weekends at 902-825-4100 for details. All necessary equipment provided (boat, lifejackets, paddles, safety equipment). Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Weekdays 8:30am – 4:00pm; Weekends 9:00am – 4:00pm. Weekly guided tours also available.
Pisiquid Canoe Club – Windsor – Located on the shores of beautiful Lake Pisiquid in Windsor, Nova Scotia (just behind Tim Horton’s), Pisiquid Canoe Club offers an unforgettable summer experience for kids of all ages and experience. We offer a full range of fun events/programs, including: Kiddie Canoe, team canoes and kayaks, and a popular 15-person war canoe; fun and games at the Pisiquid Olympics; or competitive regattas such as the Atlantic PeeWee Regatta hosted by the club each year. There truly is something for everyone – first-class coaching for athletes of ALL ages. The focus is on youth aged 5-18.
Raven Haven Beachside Family Park in Annapolis County has canoes, kayaks, and pedal boats to rent by the hour.
Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps “Minas” – Sea cadets is a very rewarding program that teaches many aspects of watercraft training from power boating to sail boating. We teach things such as navigation using the buoy system, pilotage and we teach the proper equipment needed on the water, different knots and much more. On top of the watercraft training we also teach other things such as leadership, instructional techniques, marksmanship and we even have a band program for all those musicians.
The program is for ages 12 – 18, and we parade on Tuesday nights from 6:45 to 9:00 p.m. from September to June. During the summer time cadets usually attend regional cadet camps outside of their local unit training. EMAIL
Life Jacket Rentals
Annapolis County – Annapols County loans life jackets for free. People can sign out PFDs at both the Municipal Office, Bridgetown (271 Granville St.) and at Raven Haven Beachside Family Park (2239 Virginia Road, West Springhill, Sandy Bottom Lake)
Red Cross Rentals – The Red Cross office in Kentville (10 Pelton Drive) loans life jackets for a monetary donation! They have them in all sizes from infant to adult. Phone 678-0415 for more information.
